    Alma Hughes, 90, of Bismarck passed away January 21, 2019. Alma was born to the late Hensley James Ward and Elza Ozela Parish Ward on September 3, 1928, in Donaldson, Arkansas. Alma loved to spend time with her family as well as gardening, hunting, and fishing any chance she had. Alma was married to James Hughes on September 14, 1946, where they enjoyed a long-lasting marriage of 66 years together.

    Alma is preceded in death by her husband James Ulysses Hughes, two brothers, one sister, and one grandson, James Tory Hughes.

    Alma is survived by her daughter, Sheila Pankey (Corky), three sons Hal Hughes (Vera), Neal Hughes (Loretta), and Timmy Hughes (Helen), along with 16 grandkids and 22 great grandkids.

    Pallbearers will be Eric Waldroff, Trent Hughes, Jarrod Reese, Michael Choice, Matt Graham, Tyler Emerson and honorary pallbearer, Justin Allman.

    Visitation will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 1:00 pm at the Atkinson Chapel with services following. Interment will be at the Prairie Bayou Cemetery.

    My sincere condolences to the family of Ms. Hughes during this time of grieving. May you find comfort and peace in the promise found in the Holy Scriptures of an earthly resurrection when we will see our loved ones again. (John 5:28, 29)
